Alex is the founder of because I said I would, a global social movement and nonprofit dedicated to bettering humanity through promises made and kept, created in memory of his father, whose word was his bond. To help others remember the importance of their goals and commitments, Alex and his organization send “promise cards” to anyone anywhere in the world at no cost.
Alex embodies the meaning of commitment. He once walked 240 miles across Ohio in 10 days to fulfill a promise. Since his father’s passing in 2012, because I said I would has sent more than 4.47 million promise cards to 150+ countries. The promises written on these cards have made international headlines.
His charitable projects and awareness campaigns impact millions across the world and have been featured on almost every major media channel. He was honored by Steve Harvey as a “Harvey’s Hero” and is a four-time TEDxTalk speaker. His viral social media efforts were featured on BuzzFeed’s "Most Important Viral Videos of 2013” and have made the #1 spot on the front page of Reddit.com.
With a belief that every individual has the power to keep a promise, Alex shares insights and actionable, character-building strategies for becoming a person of your word. He draws on inspiring, real-life examples and messages from the because I said I would movement to encourage others to fulfill their commitment.
