9/01: Secrets Revealed: Frank Warren's PostSecret Live Fall 2010 Tour Dates Announced

Several years ago, Frank Warren began PostSecret as a community art project. Today, he runs the #1 non-commercial blog in the world and has published several New York Times best-sellers. In his live PostSecret multimedia presentations, Warren unveils the inspiring and comedic stories behind secrets and shares postcards that were banned from his books. At the end of each event, he encourages audiences to divulge their secrets, resulting in a powerful, moving community of confession.

08/02: Soledad O'Brien Named 2010 Journalist of the Year

This weekend, the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) presented its 2010 Journalist of the Year Award to CNN anchor and special correspondent Soledad O’Brien. Honored for her use of content, creativity, innovation, and relevance to the black community, NABJ President Kathy Times remarked that, “From the presidential administration, to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the economy and so on, the stories…were remarkable.”

One of America’s most popular celebrity speakers, Soledad O’Brien is widely known for reporting on today’s most pressing issues. From CNN’s In America series to reports on elections, the earthquake in Haiti, and an upcoming documentary on the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, O’Brien’s insight and compassion sets her apart. Her memoir, The Next Big Story: My Journey through the Land of Possibilities discusses the stand-out moments as a reporter that have shaped her perspective on America. It will be released November 2, 2010.

07/09: Nina Totenberg Named a 2010 Recipient of the Edward R. Murrow Award

National Public Radio’s award-winning legal affairs correspondent Nina Totenberg has another honor to add to her collection: the 2010 Edward R. Murrow Award, bestowed by The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). Upon awarding Totenberg with the prestigious prize, CPB CEO Pat Harrison commented, “Nina Totenberg represents public media’s excellence in journalism...we’re pleased to honor her with this distinguished reward.”

Nina Totenberg has long covered the Supreme Court for NPR’s newsmagazines All Things Considered, Morning Edition, and Weekend Edition, and has been honored seven times by the American Bar Association for continued excellence in legal reporting. Now, with the Elena Kagan Supreme Court confirmation near certainty and with the retirement of Justice John Paul Stevens imminent, her insight is needed more than ever, as Americans prepare for change in the highest court in the country.
