03/02: The Green Economy: Jerome Ringo Makes the Case in “U.S. News & World Report”
March 02, 2010
The Obama administration continues touting green jobs and a green recovery as the best way to recover from the recession. But is this really true? In the latest issue of U.S. News & World Report, Jerome Ringo, a pioneering conservationist and green business executive, sheds light on the green economy, revealing why “green jobs are putting America to work.”
For Ringo and fellow sustainable business advocates, expanding employment through green jobs isn’t wishful thinking–there is quantifiable proof that investment in training and implementation has saved millions of American jobs and spurred positive economic transformation. According to the Pew Charitable Trusts, even without a national policy regarding green jobs, clean energy jobs in the United States have grown at twice the rate of all other jobs in the past decade. The state of Michigan, which arguably suffered more than most other states in the recession, has created more than 11,000 green energy jobs in four years. With all evidence pointing towards a positive future in green energy, Ringo wrote in U.S. News and World Report, “It’s time to end the debate and start investing in America’s future.”
The senior executive for global strategies for Green Port and the former president of the Apollo Alliance, business speaker Jerome Ringo is one of the country’s leading voices on the green economy. A staunch advocate for green job creation and renewable energy, he reveals how American industry can be at the forefront of global transformation.
