Raised in tribal Muslim culture in Somalia, Ali was granted asylum in the Netherlands after fleeing an arranged marriage, and came face-to-face with the vast differences between her previous life and the Western world.
Since her immigration to the West, Ali has done everything from serve in the Dutch Parliament to work as a visiting scholar for the American Enterprise Institute. Speaking on the importance of “an enlightened Islam,” she shares a powerful message of equal rights for all.
